Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), the third leading cause of death globally, represents an important public health challenge that is both preventable and treatable. There are an estimated 3 million deaths annually from COPD accounting for about 6% of all deaths globally. It is a major cause of chronic morbidity worldwide and the prevalence is increasing.

The World COPD Day is an annual international event with goals to improve awareness and care. The Asthma and Chest Care Foundation (ACCF) in collaboration with Asthma and Chest Care Research & Training Institute (ACCRTI), Nigerian Medical Association (Osun State Branch) and Department of Medicine, OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, is organizing a Continuing Medical Education (CME) in celebration of the World COPD Day 2021.
