The theme for this year is Stop Pneumonia- Every Breath Counts. Pneumonia is a condition caused by microbial infection within the lung parenchyma. This infection, together with the associated host inflammatory response, impairs normal alveolar function.   Understanding  Current Concepts in the Management of COPD Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), the third leading cause of death globally, represents an important public health challenge that is both preventable and treatable. There are an estimated 3 million deaths annually from COPD accounting for about 6% of all deaths globally. It is a major cause of chronic morbidity worldwide and the prevalence is increasing. The World COPD Day is an annual international event with goals to improve awareness and care.
